2019-2020 School Activities
- July 2020 Update
Hi Students/Parents,
Hope you are all safe at your respected homes! These times are tough, especially for you- and we understand!
Take this time to better understand yourself and how you can improve! There are many ways, like, practicing meditation/yoga/dance videos online to keep fit or picking up that book that you have been wanting to read or helping make your favorite dish with your parents by learning to read recipies! We would love to hear how your time at home has been going and what you all have been up too!
My kids have been very busy building LEGO. A good book to buy is The Lego Ideas Book; it will keep you interested in so many projects without buying different kids each time! Remember- A creative mind goes a long way!!

2018-2019 School Activities
- CODE-A-PILLAR
The Fisher-Price Think and Learn CODE-A-PILLAR is a great toy to get kindergarten aged kids to pick up elementary concepts of coding. The toy contains a cute head along with segments that sequentially attach behind the head. The segments dictate a direction that the head turns towards. This allows for fun combinations of paths that the code-a-pillar can take. It comes with 8 segments plus the head. The plus about this toy is that batteries are included.
In-class reliability reviews, student reactions and fun activities to come in the next few days…
2. Learning Resources Playground
The Learning Resources STEM Engineering and Design Set is another toy presented to Kindergarten kids. As the name suggests, this set allows kids to come up with playground designs by following instructions on cards or through creative free-play. We have first person accounts as parents using this toy with our Jk and Grade 1 kids. Some online reviews have complained that the building pieces are flimsy, but in our experience, we were able to make do with them. What we loved about the kit is that it truly tests fine motor skills and creative thinking. The set is best used if your kids have been exposed to Slides, monkey bars, etc atleast a few times!
3. Snap Circuits
The Elenco Snap Circuits Beginner was an instant hit with our young minds. It is an easy to follow and simple way to begin learning to make simple circuits. The kit comes with a instruction booklet that covers all the basic precautions to take while building any circuit (like how not to short circuit!). There are a few dozen circuit ideas that children can make. There aren’t many circuit kits for younger children and this one definitely does the job. There are various components in the kit such as a motor with lighted fan blade, a speaker, LED lights that will keep inquisitive minds busy for hours together!
